Worldview Blindness

This is a response to this video: http://tinyurl.com/y2p8lj3

This man Brannon Howse, is thoroughly confused. He argues that the move from capitalism to socialism, if you can even call it that, is also happening in the spiritual realm. Let's try to remember that nothing about economics really approaches how we view the world. There is nothing morally wrong with communism or socialism, it just doesn't work as an economic model. When we start trying to say that every part of our world view is a christian part, we fall on our sword to quickly. I hate a lot of what is going on in Washington right now, but being Christian has nothing to do with whether you are socialist or capitalist. Further more none of us no matter how conservative would argue that the government should do nothing to help anyone.

We all desire a redistribution of wealth at some level, other wise the entire society is dragged down by the lower levels. However we do disagree with too much redistribution of wealth. We all want to draw a the line where we want it, and we don't want to talk about the consequences of redistributing to little or too much wealth. This man Brannon argues that God is being challenged in the political realm, the educational realm, by the cult church, and by pagan religions. While all this may be true, remember that he probably includes me in the cult church, because I do not believe that the earth is 6,000 years old.

In economics we use what is called the Gini coefficient. It measures how income is distributed in a society. It stems from some complex math, but suffice it to say that the closer to 1 the Gini coefficient the more unequal the distribution of wealth, the closer to 0 the more equal. I have attached a photo of the world's Gini coefficient by country. Notice that America still has a fairly unequal distribution of wealth. Clearly we do not want a 0 or a 1 to be where we land, but probably some where between .25 and .45 is a safe range. Yet we will continue to argue whether .25 or .45 is the right place to fall.

The lines of Conservative and Liberal parties are less about stupid people and more about differences of opinion, less about trying to ruin America, and more about really desiring to make it the best it can be. We just all disagree on how to do it.
